Astaria is a large, open-world, MMO MUD that has been running since 1994. Developed over several iterations, it currently runs on FluffOS in what is referred to as A4. Astaria has survived almost 30 years on the dedication of its player base and wizardry.
Gameplay[]
The fantasy world of Astaria consists of three major continents, Astaria, Altheon, and Sakai. The overall theme is medieval fantasy wherein different races live in strife and bloodlust is commonplace. Based on the principle of endless killing and levelling up, the game does provide roleplay and non-combat elements, helping to expand the game's content beyond the typical hack and slash classification.
The history of Astaria is based upon several official stories as well as player-contributed material. Player and clan websites devoted to Astaria, as well as submitted lore and poetry, are encouraged and often rewarded by the wizardry.
Guilds[]
Each player character (PC) is built around one of nine guilds: Thief, Fighter, Mage, Cleric, Psion, Druid, Paladin, Bard, and Elementalist. PCs can choose from any one of fifteen races, but may encounter restrictions within the guild for certain specializations.
Questing[]
The realm of Astaria is full of quests both obvious and hidden. Adventurers are advised to be dilligent, as an opportunity for trial and feats may be right under one's nose. From repeatable kill quests, to riddles, and realmwide quests, PCs need only to type quest to start their path to glory and loot.
Reputation[]
Adventurers seeking reward and renown can always be on the lookout for ways to increase their notoriety and be eligible for valuable rewards. Test your strength clearing outposts overrun by dire beasts. Test your speed chasing random snipes across the realm. And test your mettle summoning and defeating mayhems to gain reputation points and tokens redeemable for prized armor and items.
Clans[]
Astaria has a large selection of player-formed clans from big to small, with intentions both pure and abhorrent. Join up with like-minded individuals for access to a clan nexus and abode, as well as useful clan powers. Or start your own clan, provided you can meet the minimum requirements.
Estates[]
Find an empty estate, find the local real estate agent, and begin designing your custom estate in any theme or style you can imagine, as well as include helpful room items like closets, iceboxes, fun games, and message boards.

Access[]
While Astaria can be played with any standard Telnet or MUD client, it offers its own in-house developed client, the Astaria Client, which contains features designed to enhance playability within the realm. Astaria is currently developing integration for Mudlet client to greatly enhance the player experience.
